Our client, a reputable Australian residential construction company based in Western Australia, is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join their growing team. This role is suitable for candidates with strong timber construction backgrounds and may be eligible for employer sponsorship under the Subclass 482 visa for the right applicant.

About the Role
The successful candidate will work primarily on residential timber construction projects, focusing on framing, roof construction, and structural timber installation. Applicants with factory-based experience manufacturing timber frames and trusses for residential builds will also be considered.
The role requires hands-on expertise, the ability to read construction plans, and strong English communication skills to ensure safe and effective on-site coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, erect, and repair structures and fixtures made of timber
- Install timber wall frames, floor systems, and roof structures
- Erect prefabricated timber trusses
- Interpret and work from construction drawings and specifications
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber components
- Ensure all work complies with Australian building standards and WHS regulations
- Collaborate with supervisors, site managers, and other trades
For factory-based applicants:
- Manufacture and assemble residential timber frames and trusses
- Operate machinery and tools used in timber component production
- Maintain high levels of precision and quality control
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of full-time carpentry experience gained in:
- Japan
- Canada
- New Zealand
- Ireland
- Or another country with strong residential timber construction practices
- Proven experience in:
- On-site residential timber framing and roof construction, including truss erection
- OR
- Factory-based manufacturing of residential timber components
- Experience comparable to Certificate III in Carpentry (Australia)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (workplace safety and team coordination)
- Strong understanding of timber framing and residential construction methods
- Physically fit and able to work in a construction environment
Highly Regarded
- Experience working to Australian or similar building codes
- Willing to take English Test (if required, for international candidates)
- Willing to undergo skills assessment (if required) to attain Certificate III in Carpentry (Australia)
